\u201cAfter the mine exploded, I didn’t feel anything anymore,\u201d Amina told Project Masam from her home. Her right leg was amputated and she now wears a prosthetic leg to help her move around.<\/p>\n

However, the young woman says she is still very incapacitated by the injuries she sustained in the blast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to herd sheep and collect firewood, and I used to sew clothes. I can no longer sew, nor can I collect firewood. Now I am sitting down doing nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being called to the village, Project Masam sent an rapid response team to assess the area before it could start its mine clearance work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that all mines will be removed so that people can walk and move around safely,\u201d Amina said of Yemen, where mines and other explosive devices remain one of the largest threats.<\/p>\n
