Young Mubarak and his friend were heading to the market to buy bread when a landmine detonated.<\/p>\n
The explosion killed his friend on the spot, left Mubarak without a lower leg and shrapnel littering his body.<\/p>\n
The young man told Project Masam: \u201cI have become unable to practice many of the professions I used to do because they depended mainly on the movement of all my limbs; I was forced to look for another profession that suits my current situation.\u00a0 Now, I work on a motorcycle.”<\/p>\n
Mubarak insisted his ability to overcome his disability was due to the artificial limb he was given.<\/p>\n
After finishing high school, Mubarak is preparing to complete his university studies while working on his motorcycle in order to cover his expenses and daily needs.<\/p>\n
Mubarak has become a role model in his region – an inspirational young man who overcame personal challenges and struggles – and has achieved success.<\/p>\n
The student said he is just an example of the thousands of Yemeni youth who have lost one or both limbs as a result of Houthi landmines, but have not let these tragedies and the pain get in the way of living their lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
