{"id":22956,"date":"2026-01-29T14:49:24","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T14:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/?p=22956"},"modified":"2026-01-29T14:55:36","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T14:55:36","slug":"project-masam-destroys-1531-landmines-and-unexploded-ordnance-in-yemens-mukalla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/eng\/project-masam-destroys-1531-landmines-and-unexploded-ordnance-in-yemens-mukalla\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Masam destroys 1,531 landmines and unexploded ordnance in Yemen\u2019s Mukalla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">Project Masam has carried out its third <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/safe-detonation-of-landmines-in-conversation-with-our-experts\/\">bulk demolition<\/a> operation in the city of Mukalla, in Yemen\u2019s Hadhramaut Governorate, safely destroying 1,531 landmines and explosive remnants of war.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">The operation was implemented as part of the project\u2019s ongoing humanitarian mine action activities aimed at reducing explosive threats and protecting civilian lives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">According to Project Masam, the materials destroyed during the operation included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">Ten anti-tank mines<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">Six anti-personnel mines<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">Four guided missiles (N72)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">23 82mm mortar rounds<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">183 37mm shells<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">150 23mm shells<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">15 hand grenades<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">720 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">420 rounds of 14.7mm ammunition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"350\">The wide range of munitions reflects the scale and complexity of explosive contamination remaining from past fighting, with items varying significantly in type, calibre, and level of risk.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"744\">The demolition was conducted by the project\u2019s Special Task Teams in coordination with the Mukalla branch of the Executive Centre for Mine Action (YEMAC).
