Project Masam has carried out an emergency operation to remove dangerous war remnants from the Salah Al-Din area of Al Buraiqeh District in Aden Governorate in south Yemen after videos circulated on social media raised concerns among residents by showing unexploded ordnance located near a residential area.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the project, civilians and journalists shared footage of the war remnants discovered near the military airport in Salah Al-Din, calling on the relevant authorities to take immediate action to remove them and ensure the safety of civilians.<\/p>\n
The statement noted that Project Masam’s operations room in Aden received the report and that project management promptly dispatched Special Task Team 1, led by Engineer Munther Qasim, to assess the site and evaluate the potential risks. During the survey, the team identified 13 unexploded 85mm shells and 17 solid projectiles of the same calibre. The items were safely recovered, secured, and transported to the Special Task Team 1 storage facility.<\/p>\n
Project Masam confirmed that the recovered war remnants will be destroyed during the project’s next demolition operation as part of its ongoing efforts to clear explosive remnants of war from affected areas and reduce the risks they pose to civilians.<\/p>\n
The project also renewed its appeal to the public to avoid approaching or handling suspicious objects and to report them immediately to the relevant authorities.
