Sheikh Sultan al-Aradah, Member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib Governorate<\/a>, Yemen, has praised the humanitarian role of Project Masam, highlighting its contribution to saving the lives of thousands of civilians and reducing the threat posed by landmines planted by the Houthi militia across several Yemeni governorates.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper published yesterday, Al-Aradah said that Project Masam has made significant sacrifices in its efforts to secure Yemeni territory and protect civilians. He noted that a number of the project’s experts and engineers had lost their lives while carrying out their humanitarian mission to clear landmine-contaminated areas.<\/p>\n

Al-Aradah stressed that the tens of thousands of mines planted by the Houthi militia continue to pose a serious and ongoing threat to civilians, particularly shepherds, farmers, travellers, and children. He emphasised that demining operations<\/a> remain an urgent necessity to restore normal life in affected communities and enable the safe use of land and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

He also commended the project’s achievements in mine clearance and explosive ordnance risk education, noting that these efforts have helped revive many affected areas and enabled residents to return safely to their homes and farms.<\/p>\n

Al-Aradah reaffirmed the importance of sustaining humanitarian mine action efforts to address the continuing threat posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war, which remain among the most significant obstacles to recovery and development in many parts of Yemen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
