Sheikh Hassan Musbah, the chieftain of Bani Fayid village in Yemen’s Midi district, has praised the humanitarian efforts of Project Masam, stating that the clearance of more than 10,000 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) has helped restore safety for civilians across the region.<\/p>\n
Midi is one of Yemen’s most heavily mine-contaminated districts due to years of frontline fighting and the extensive use of landmines by Houthi forces along strategic border areas, agricultural land, roads, and civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
In a press statement, Musbah described the clearance of explosive hazards from homes, roads, agricultural land, and grazing areas as “a significant achievement that paves the way for the return of normal life.” He said the figures also illustrate the scale of contamination caused by the Houthis in the region.<\/p>\n
He noted that Project Masam’s ongoing operations in Midi have resulted in the clearance of approximately 3.5 million square metres of land, describing the achievement as having “a tangible impact on the lives of civilians.” According to Musbah, the work has enabled residents to move more freely and resume farming and other daily activities in one of Yemen’s most heavily mine-contaminated areas.<\/p>\n
Musbah also expressed his appreciation to the leadership of Project Masam and its engineering teams operating in Midi, commending their continued humanitarian efforts to protect civilians and improve safety for thousands of people living in the liberated areas of northern Hajjah Governorate and across Yemen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
