Project Masam’s demining Team 40 has averted a potential disaster for civilians after responding to reports of a minefield located less than 100 metres from homes in Bani Khoury village, Hiran district, in northern Hajjah Governorate.<\/p>\n
The operation was launched after the village elder, Sheikh Ali Khoury, alerted Project Masam’s field media team to the discovery of the hazardous area and appealed for an urgent response to protect local residents.<\/p>\n
Team 40 deployed immediately to the site, beginning survey and clearance operations to eliminate the threat posed by the mines and secure the area for the surrounding community.<\/p>\n
In a press statement, Team Leader Engineer Al-Baraa Al-Rouhani said his team successfully located and destroyed two anti-personnel mines during the early hours of the morning and is continuing work to clear three anti-tank mines. One of the anti-tank mines has been fitted with a booby trap designed to target demining personnel<\/a>.<\/p>\n Al-Rouhani urged residents to stay away from the area until survey and clearance operations have been completed, warning that the site remains extremely dangerous. He stressed that these precautions are essential to protecting lives and ensuring residents can safely return to their daily activities once the area has been declared safe.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
