Project Masam’s demining Team 37 has cleared 180 anti-tank mines and three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from farmland north of Midi District in Hajjah Governorate, making 300,000 square metres of agricultural land safe for civilian use.<\/p>\n

Midi remains one of Yemen’s most heavily mine-contaminated areas after years of frontline fighting and the widespread laying of landmines by Houthi forces<\/a>, particularly around farmland, roads and other civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the project’s Operations Room, the clearance operation was carried out on farmland adjacent to populated villages as part of Project Masam’s ongoing efforts to enable farmers to return safely to their land<\/a> and resume agricultural activities.<\/p>\n

The statement noted that Project Masam’s demining teams continue to face significant challenges in heavily contaminated agricultural areas, where landmines and improvised explosive devices have prevented residents from accessing their livelihoods and severely disrupted farming for years.<\/p>\n

More Than 10,600 Explosive Hazards Cleared in Midi<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Since operations began in Midi District, Project Masam has cleared 10,622 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), while making more than 3.66 million square metres of land safe.<\/p>\n

Project Masam continues to carry out humanitarian mine clearance operations across Yemen, reducing the threat posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war, restoring access to farmland and infrastructure, and helping communities return safely to their homes and livelihoods.<\/p>\n
