Project Masam\u2019s media team in Marib<\/a> has conducted an explosive ordnance risk education campaign for students at Omar Al-Mukhtar School in Al-Jufainah camp for displaced people, helping children recognise the dangers posed by landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance (UXO), and understand how to respond safely if they encounter a suspected explosive hazard.<\/p>\n

Launched at the beginning of the new school year, the campaign included the distribution of educational brochures and posters featuring illustrations of landmines, unexploded ordnance and other potentially hazardous objects that children could encounter while travelling to and from school or while playing.<\/p>\n

The team provided students with guidance on what to do if they encounter a suspicious object, emphasising that they should never touch, tamper with or approach it. Students were instructed to keep a safe distance and immediately report the object to a parent or the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n

As part of the initiative, Project Masam also distributed 400 fully equipped school bags to students to support them as they continue their education. The campaign combined explosive ordnance awareness with practical assistance intended to help ease some of the financial pressures associated with education for displaced families.<\/p>\n

The campaign forms part of Project Masam\u2019s continuing efforts<\/a> to raise awareness of the dangers posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war and promote safer behaviour among schoolchildren, particularly in communities affected by explosive contamination and those hosting displaced populations.<\/p>\n

Students and teachers at Omar Al-Mukhtar School expressed their appreciation to Project Masam for conducting the campaign and providing guidance on how children can protect themselves from explosive hazards. They also welcomed the distribution of school bags and educational supplies.<\/p>\n

Students and teachers further commended the work carried out by Project Masam since operations began in Yemen, highlighting its role in clearing areas contaminated by landmines and other explosive remnants of war and reducing the risks these hazards pose to civilians, particularly children.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
