Project Masam demining teams have cleared 3,542 landmines and other explosive threats across Yemen during the first three weeks of October 2026, as humanitarian Mine Action operations continue across multiple governorates.

The October total so far comprises 74 anti-personnel mines, 106 anti-tank mines, 3,356 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and six improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Project Masam teams have also cleared 501,985 square metres of land so far this month.

During the latest reporting week alone, from 10 to 16 October, teams cleared 995 explosive threats, including 50 anti-personnel mines, 39 anti-tank mines, 902 items of UXO and four IEDs, across 135,103 square metres of land.

The latest figures come as Project Masam continues operating amid significant security restrictions in parts of Yemen. Clearance, safe disposal and risk-education activities remain focused on reducing the threat posed by explosive ordnance, restoring safer access to land and infrastructure, and supporting affected communities. The diversity of items cleared during October reflects the complex explosive threat facing communities across Yemen, where anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, UXO and IEDs can coexist within the same broader contamination environment and require different survey, clearance and disposal responses.

Project Masam’s demining, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Special Tasks and emergency-response teams continue responding to reported hazards and carrying out clearance wherever operational conditions allow.

Since operations began in 2018, Project Masam has cleared 597,031 explosive threats, including 7,809 anti-personnel mines, 153,213 anti-tank mines, 427,316 items of UXO and 8,693 IEDs. Teams have cleared 86,314,247 square metres of land. Masam statistics 16 oct 2026
