Brig. Gen. Amin Saleh Abdullah Al-Aqili, Chairman of the National Mine Action Committee, has praised the achievements of Saudi-funded Project Masam, describing it as one of the most significant humanitarian initiatives contributing to the reduction of landmine and explosive-remnant-of-war threats while enhancing civilian protection.

Al-Aqili said Project Masam has achieved remarkable results, helping to save the lives of thousands of civilians, facilitate the return of displaced families to their communities, and ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian assistance and essential services to affected areas.

He noted that the project has played a vital role in clearing roads, critical infrastructure, agricultural land, grazing areas and coastlines of landmines and unexploded ordnance, helping to restore normal life in many regions and enabling residents (including farmers and fishermen) to resume their livelihoods and daily activities.

The Chairman of the National Mine Action Committee affirmed that Project Masam merits continued support to sustain its humanitarian mission. He added that the partnership between the project, the National Mine Action Programme and its Executive Mine Action Centre represents a successful model for addressing the threats posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war to civilian populations.

Al-Aqili also praised the support provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), expressing his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including its leadership, government and people, for their ongoing humanitarian contributions to Yemen.

He further commended the efforts of Project Masam’s Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi, noting that his close supervision of both field operations and administrative activities has played a key role in the project’s achievements and operational effectiveness.

Al-Aqili concluded by expressing his sincere gratitude to all personnel working within the Masam Project and the National Mine Action Programme, praising their dedication to protecting civilians and reducing the dangers posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance across Yemen’s governorates.
